Thank you for considering Mattanja Hunting Safaris for your African Safari Adventure. Mattanja Hunting Safaris is a family owned business operated by Dieter and Desiré Prinsloo.
We operate Hunting Safaris in South Africa and Zimbabwe and hunt some of the best concessions there is to offer for Big Game and Plains Game in Southern Africa.
We strive to give top quality service and an unforgettable hunting experience to our clients. We tailor affordable African Safaris around the individual hunter to suit your needs. If you are a collector, looking for a particularly rare specimen or Trophy, we will do our best to locate it for you.
Although we have access to a number of hunting areas, our main area is situated in the heart of the African Bushveld in the northern part of the Limpopo Province of South Africa known as the Limpopo Valley, a convenient 5 hour drive north from OR Tambo International Airport and 2 hour drive from Polokwane Airport. Our main hunting area consists of 20 000 Acres of pristine bushveld with over 40 hunt able species! We have all the hunting requirements any hunter can dream of and can guarantee a traditional, fair chase hunt on all our Safaris. Surrounded by an abundance of wildlife and baobab trees the stay with us is of a first class experience that brings you closer to the vibrant dark continent.
The South African Lowveld is home to the Private Game Reserves that share open borders with the Kruger National Park and is the number one destination for big game hunting! Our Big 5 areas in the Lowveld offer some of the best big game hunting South Africa has to offer!
We also operate Hunting Safaris in Zimbabwe through a licensed Zimbabwean Professional Hunter and have access to some of the best Safari Areas Zimbabwe has to offer, all free range hunts! Zimbabwe is one of the best hunting destinations if you are in pursuit of free roaming dangerous game.
Every client will be guided personally by myself or one of my hand picked Professional Hunters.

Dieter Prinsloo, Owner and Outfitter of Mattanja Hunting Safaris(MHS) have been an avid hunter since an early age.
"My dad took me hunting with him from the early age of 5 years and I successfully hunted my first animal under his guidance at 6 years of age and I have been at it ever since! I went on my first Big Game Hunt with my dad when I was 13 years old, in the Sapi Safari Area of the Zambezi Valley of Zimbabwe and I remember it like it was yesterday! That was the foundation of my passion for Big Game Hunting."
He has hunted extensively across South Africa & Zimbabwe throughout the years taking trophies with clients and for himself and have successfully guided clients on all 7 species of Africa's Dangerous 7! He started MHS to exceed the expectations of any and all clients, whether it's a clients' first Safari in Africa or a returning client after the more difficult species like the Big 5 or Tiny 10.
"My goal is to give my clients a true African, Fair Chase Hunt and get them their desired Trophies. I don't see being a Professional Hunter as a job but more as my passion, therefore I will never give a client a hunt that I will not undertake myself."
